Daily log reminders that chase only the jobs that are missing one

A scheduled check that finds active projects with no daily log for the last workday and reminds the person responsible, not the whole company.

The problem

Daily logs are the record you reach for in a delay claim or a dispute, and they are the first thing skipped on a busy day. Reminders go out as blanket emails that everyone ignores, and missing logs are found weeks later when the detail can no longer be reconstructed.

What we build

We build a scheduled check that reads each active project's daily log for the previous workday, decides whether it is missing or incomplete against your rules, and messages only the superintendent or foreman responsible. Repeat gaps escalate to the project manager, and the results feed a compliance view.

How it works

  1. 1

    Define what counts as complete

We agree the rule with operations: which projects are active, which days are workdays, and which sections (manpower, weather, notes, photos) must be filled for a log to count.

  2. 2

    Check every active project

Each morning the workflow reads the previous workday's log for every active project from Procore or your field app and compares it with the rule.

  3. 3

    Remind the right person

Only the person assigned to that project is reminded, in Teams, email or text, with a direct link to the missing log.

  4. 4

    Escalate and report

Projects with repeated gaps escalate to the project manager, and every check result is logged so compliance by project and by person shows up in reporting.

The value it creates

  • Standardization

Every active project is held to the same definition of a complete log, checked the same way each day.

  • Early warning

A missing log is caught the next morning, while the superintendent can still remember the day, not weeks later.

  • Time saved

Nobody has to open each project to see who logged and who did not; we compare the time spent checking before and after.

  • Visibility

Compliance by project and by person is visible in one view instead of discovered during a claim.

Frequently asked questions

Will this spam our superintendents?

No. The check messages only the person assigned to a project that is actually missing a log, once, with a link to fix it. Days off, holidays and inactive projects are excluded by rule, and escalation happens only after repeated gaps.

Can it check log quality, not just whether a log exists?

Yes, within reason. We can check that required sections are filled, such as manpower, weather and notes, and that photos are attached where you require them. Judging whether the notes are good enough stays with people.

Where does the compliance measure come from?

Each daily check writes a result per project, so the count of logs not completed on the same day is a by-product of the workflow. Our production reporting build already uses daily logs not completed same day as one input to its project health scorecard.
