Sage 300 CRE API and integration guide

Sage 300 Construction and Real Estate (formerly Timberline) runs on the contractor's own server. Integrations use an on-premises Web API licensed through Sage's development partner program, or ODBC reads.

API style
On-premises REST/JSON Web API installed on the customer's accounting server, plus ODBC reads through the Timberline Data driver.
Authentication
Web API: every request carries an X-DPPKey header (the Sage Development Partner Program license key); you authenticate with the user's Windows credentials and send the returned token in an X-Credentials header. ODBC: a DSN plus a Sage user.
Sandbox / developer program
No public sandbox. Developers join the Sage CRE Development Partner Program, which issues a time-limited key renewed with the agreement. Confirm current terms with Sage.
Webhooks / events
None documented in the Web API user guide.
Rate limits
Not published. Confirm with vendor.
Exports and files
ODBC reads of accounting data for reporting. The Web API guide lists no AP vendor, AP invoice or commitment endpoints, so those usually come through ODBC or Sage's desktop tooling. Confirm with vendor for your version.
Marketplace / partner program
Sage CRE Development Partner Program (apply by email; program fees apply).

Notes and gotchas

  • There is no cloud endpoint: the integration has to reach the customer's server, and Sage notes your application should manage the correct URL for each customer's implementation.
  • Each endpoint needs the matching partner-program license feature and the customer's own module licenses and user permissions.
  • The partner key is time-limited and reissued when the partner agreement renews; put the renewal on someone's calendar.

Frequently asked questions

Does Sage 300 CRE have a cloud API?

Not in the sense of a hosted endpoint. Sage's Web API runs on the customer's own accounting server, so an integration has to reach that server, typically over a VPN or a gateway.

Can I read AP invoices and commitments through the Sage 300 CRE Web API?

The v25 Web API guide covers job cost, equipment, payroll time, field reports and RFIs, but lists no AP vendor, invoice or commitment endpoints. Teams usually read those through the ODBC driver. Confirm with Sage for your version.

Do I need to be a Sage partner to use the API?

The Web API requires a Development Partner Program key on every request. Sage describes a customer track for internal use as well as the partner track; check current terms with Sage.
