What it was
As an Integrations Engineer at Trimble, Charley built connectors for Trimble App Xchange, Trimble's integration platform, and a set of MCP servers that let AI agents work with Trimble construction products. Vista and Spectrum were among the systems most often connected in the flows he worked with.
Connectors built
Connectors were written in C# on .NET with the App Xchange connector SDK, each made up of data objects, cache writers, data readers and action processors. They covered systems including HCSS (HeavyBid, HeavyJob, Safety and equipment), Ramp, Bluebeam Studio, Workyard, SmartPM, Power BI, Accubid and Trimble Connect.
MCP servers built
ProjectSight: 425 tools across 48 API domains, exposed by default through one gateway tool that matches intent against a tool registry, plus a 19-agent hierarchy (an orchestrator, three leads and fifteen specialists) with golden-prompt evaluations. Vista AP invoice review: 47 endpoint specs and 9 analysis tools for triage, review packets, decision capture, approval preflight, commitment comparison and audit export. Accubid: 43 tools. Trimble Connect: 15 tools. Tekla PowerFab: a server in .NET 8 over the PowerFab Remote Service API.
Engineering patterns
On-behalf-of token exchange (RFC 8693) so agents act with the signed-in user's permissions. Policy layers that keep deletes off by default, require approval for writes, enforce per-domain allowlists and cap bulk operations. Retries with backoff, circuit breakers and rate limiting. Tool-call telemetry that records timing and outcome without logging raw inputs or outputs, plus health and readiness endpoints.
What this means for clients
This work was done as a Trimble employee. The code belongs to Trimble and is not public, and we do not reuse it. What we bring is the experience: the same patterns for authentication, policy, gateways and telemetry, applied to your systems and built for you.
Scope
App Xchange connectors in C#, and MCP servers in Python and .NET for Trimble construction products, with authentication, policy, telemetry and evaluation.
Results
The connectors and servers were built for Trimble's platform. The code is not public, so this page describes the work and its patterns rather than client outcomes.
